Sami K. Maldonado, MAC, LAC

Sami K. Maldonado, MAC, LAc practices acupuncture at our Falmouth location. She earned her masters degree in acupuncture at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in conjunction with the New England School of Acupuncture, in Worcester, MA. She is also NCCAOM board certified.

While in school, Sami studied Japanese and orthopedic styles of acupuncture as well as traditional Chinese medicine. Her current style is based on a combination of these three methods with Japanese being the primary component. She uses cupping and moxa therapies as well as tui na. Sami is also NCCAOM board certified, is certified in aroma therapy and is a level 2 Reiki practitioner. Her undergraduate studies were in American sign language, early childhood development, and marine biology.

Sami works with community outreach and is actively involved with Maine Adaptive Sports and Recreation, a nonprofit program that provides lessons, equipment, and ample opportunity for disabled children and adults from around the country to enjoy the outdoors. Her work with Maine Adaptive takes her on many outdoor adventures and introduces her to people from all walks of life. She volunteers every summer at the Veterans' No Boundaries event offering free acupuncture and cupping to disabled veterans.

She is a passionate advocate for movement as medicine. Her schooling and life experience have taught her that one of the worst things we can do to our bodies is allow them to become stagnant. She has a daily yoga practice and uses her knowledge to help her patients continue their healing off the table.

Sami has lived in Maine her whole life and is now raising her daughter here. She hopes to retire somewhere warm someday but for now enjoys the closeness of her family and friends as well as the many opportunities to explore nature that Maine provides.
